To celebrate Natura 2000 Day, as well as International Museum Day 2015 where this year’s theme was "Museums for a sustainable society", LIFE-Stymfalia team organized on 18 May 2015 an info-day at the Environment Museum of Stymphalia. The aim of the info-day was to analyze the criteria that characterize an area that belongs to Natura 2000 network, the environmental and socio-economic benefits arising from the integration into the European network of protected areas, as well as the importance of protecting biodiversity. For this reason, the WWF Hellas Officer for Nature Policy stressed out that the enforcement of the legislation and the engagement of the local community are absolutely essential. At the end of her speech, she linked the protection of ecologically important areas with the creation of a sustainable management plan. The event was successfully completed with the testing of the acquired reed cutting equipment.
