Project Life Magredi Grasslands presents a documentary dedicated to the Project.
"With their silence and stillness the magredi constitute a unique ecosystem dominated by the presence of stones locally called "claps ".
The movie explores the environment of arid grasslands in its various aspects. The documentary shows how, what appears like a rocky desert, especially in summer and winter, is still a place that hides an environment rich in biodiversity. Friulian arid grasslands miraculously survived in the edge of the Po Valley.
For this reason, the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia is developing the project LIFE MAGREDI Grasslands that includes restoring of 400 hectares of dry grasslands on four important protected areas in Europe.
The documentary shows the various stages of restoration of grassland threatened by the advance of the woods, but especially by the invasion of non-native shrubs out of context of the same magredi.
Thanks to this initiative are laying the foundation for transforming magredi from abandoned place to opportunity to preserve and enhance a territory at the same time unusual, extraordinary and unexpected in the regional, Italian and European context. "
